Gentlemen and ladies welcome!… sounds weird right… However, this time on the blog it’s all about male fashion! I am interested to learn about men’s ‘psychology’ of style, how they go about coordinating their clothes, and where they get their inspiration from. I know my ladies will agree that it is sooo difficult to buy you guys gifts especially when it comes to shoes because sometimes we think we know what you like but its really a hit and miss most times.

I think that it might be the case that most males really are not diverse in fashion, or do not seem to care for it. You guys possibly just stick to one look and do not fully understand the difference between casual and casually elegant, or formal and semi-formal, or even business and business-casual. It’s actually enlightening when you run to us and ask, “alright the dress code is semiformal…so what is it that you want me to wear?” I also observed that once some guys find a particular brand and you all tend to stick to it like glue. You fill up your wardrobe with that one brand until you think you’ve out grown it, and then find another brand to do the same thing. This is quite interesting though because I know males could possibly be “one-stop-shop” kind of persons, you guys know the particular store you want to go because you know exactly what you’re going in there for and that's it for shopping. But, c’mon guys you can mix it up a bit and surprise us, ladies. The brand does not speak to style but to quality.

I am proud of males with unique style that know their fashion. Today on the blog, to start off this segment of male fashion, I introduce to you Rhyjell Ellis, whose style is one that I appreciate. His style is crisp and quite dope, he definitely stands out, as he puts in the effort to not miss a detail.

So Welcome Rhyjell Ellis on the blog!

Here are a few questions I asked him:

A: Where do you shop?

Rhyjell: I do 95% of my shopping online. My most frequent websites are Urban Outfitters, HSTRY and Zara. I travel to New York frequently and when I do, I go to H&M as well.

A: How would you describe your style and who's your inspiration or where do you get it from?

Rhyjell: I would describe my style as urban/modern. I'm inspired by 4 main people, A$AP Rocky, Miguel, Chris Brown and Pharrell. Generally though, I'm really into Hip Hop so I draw a lot of my influence from there.

A: How important do you think shoes are?

Rhyjell: I think shoes are the most important part of your outfit, especially for a guy. You can easily make a regular T Shirt, Jeans or Shirt look stylish, but if your shoes are off, it really kills your whole outfit. On the flip side, a really stylish pair of shoes can really elevate your look. Shoes are the icing on the cake, so to speak, you can tell a lot about a person, from the shoes on their feet. I consider myself a bit of a sneaker head also lol, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

A: How do you pick out your clothes?

Rhyjell: Most of the time, I really just feel the vibe of the clothing. It's strange to say and difficult to explain, but if I have a TShirt/Shirt I want to wear, I use it as a base to build the vibe or aura I want to exude that particular day. Fashion is a lot about character and emotion in my opinion, so how I feel and the mood of the place I'm going affects my decision. I also never question my choice, if that's what I feel to wear, I'm wearing it, I never let people's opinions influence my decision.

A: How does colour influence your style?

Rhyjell: Colors build on my last point, it all depends on my mood. However, I have three colors I refer to as the God colors and I encourage everyone to have many options in. Navy Blue/Jean Blue, Army Green and Khaki/Brown. These colors can match with anything and are extremely effective in being stylish whilst appealing to any mood. I also, encourage at least one stand out color in your outfit, however small. It adds that extra character to your overall aura and can really make your look pop. Fashion to a certain extent is about standing out, and what more effective way to do that than through colors.

Sorry but I just have to type this It's crazy how my judgement is so on point... just by assessing his style on Instagram, without hesitation, I knew he would be the perfect male representative to launch this segment. Just take in his comment for the last two questions... literally a ME moment. I couldn't agree more.

Gents it's time to not just wear the clothes but wear your character and express your individuality. This is what fashion is about! Showcase your confidence!
